Next weekend, July 17 & 18, we will welcome Fr. Francois, a priest of the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Holy Family who will present their Mission Appeal. Rev. Ralainirina “Francois” Rakotovoavy, M.S.F. (Fr. Francois) is pastor at Holy Family Parish, New Braunfels. The Congregation of the Missionaries of the Holy Family were founded in 1895, and have over 900 priests and brothers who serve families, foster vocations, and draw people to the Gospel. Today, the Missionaries are present in: Argentina, Austria, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Madagascar, Netherlands, New Guinea, Nicaragua, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. The goals of the Missionaries of the Holy Family include spreading of the Gospel (with conversion to Christianity) and introducing a formal education for the children.
Please extend a warm welcome to our new parochial vicar, Fr. Hai Nguyen (pronounced “hi win”). Fr. Nguyen was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Vásquez on June 6, 2015, and has been assigned to the Cathedral, effective June 29. Take a few minutes to introduce yourself to Fr. Nguyen when you see him after Mass.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mass at 6:00pm, in the Cathedral, followed by a Blessing, Enrollment and Investiture of the Brown Scapular. Join us after Mass for a Potluck Dinner in Bishops Hall. To volunteer to bring an item for the potluck by signing up online at Volunteer Spot or contact Loretta at the Cathedral Office.
By popular demand from many parents who seek a deeper and fully biblical understanding of the Catholic faith, Middle school, high school, and adults are all welcome – doors will open at 10:30 am on Sundays in the Donahue Center Cafeteria, unless announced otherwise.
