Men's Mass-Saturday July 22, 2017

A Visit from Austin Police Chief Manley

Austin Police Chief Manley paid our parish a visit today, reaching to our Spanish speaking community to help bring clarity to some of the more difficult aspects of newly passed Texas Law directed towards "sanctuary cities." While purporting to protect US citizens, it has (justifiably so) created much anxiety in our Hispanic communities. Our work now is to help people understand the law and to work alongside local law enforcement to do their job: which is to protect all of us living in Austin from criminal behavior. My favorite quote from the Chief: "We are not a sanctuary city. If you are a criminal in Austin, you do not have sanctuary."
