Visiting the Cathedral

We are grateful for your visit to Saint Mary Cathedral.
If you plan on attending a Mass and it's your first visit, then it's recommended to arrive 15 minutes early before Mass. For the Easter and Christmas Masses, you should plan to arrive 45 minutes to an hour, due to the amount of people that attend.
What to wear:
While the Church does not have an official dress code we do ask that you dress in a manner that is fitting for the House of God. Our dress ought to express our respect for Christ and the sacred liturgies as well as reflect our desire for the dignity of ourselves and others. As you plan to celebrate the sacred liturgies please come dressed appropriately for when "Christ becomes our guest" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1387).
Does the Cathedral just meet on Sundays?
Of course not! The Cathedral is active throughout the week. We offer daily Mass and Confession as well as host various ministries that nourish and encourage us so that we can grow together and lead lives pleasing to God. Visit our Worship and Ministries pages to learn more.

We aim to give access to all. If you wish to discuss specific needs, please contact the church office at (512) 476-6182. Our premises are accessible for those with disabilities. We have reserved parking spaces in the public access alley behind the Cathedral and a ramp near the east entrance. Please see the parking map for a view of these accessibility features. Restrooms are accessible. We offer assisted listening devices for those who are hearing impaired, for assistance ask an usher.

There are many parking options available around the Cathedral. You are able to pay for street parking or in any of the garages located downtown.
Capitol Tower Parking Garage | MAP
The Capitol Tower Garage is located just south of the Cathedral on the same block. It is located at 206 E 9th St. and accessed off San Jacinto Blvd. Entrance to the Cathedral from the garage is through the Donohue Center Gym and located on Elevator Floor #2.
On weekdays after 5:00pm, Saturday, and Sunday you can park without paying by validating your ticket in the Donahue Center Gym at the kiosk by the elevator bank door. During the week we are unable to validate your parking ticket and you must pay the normal parking garage rates.
Texas Capitol Visitor's Parking Garage | MAP
The Texas Capitol Visitors' Garage, which is 2 blocks away, is an economical option on most weekdays. It's free for 2 hours and then $1/hour after that. It is located at 1201 San Jacinto Blvd.
Additional Parking
The alley behind the Cathedral has a limited number of parking spaces and are reserved for staff during school and business hours.
Metered parking is available around the area: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Donohue Center Gym is located on the Elevator Floor #2.
