Welcome to Saint Mary Cathedral, the mother church of the Catholic Diocese of Austin. For over 170 years, our church has welcomed Catholics from Austin, Texas, and the world. Now, situated in the center of one of America's fastest growing cities, a metropolis rapidly becoming the technology hub of America, our door remains open to all who wish to join us in celebrating our Faith, the Church, and our Lord.
Jesus Christ, before His Ascension into Heaven, calls on all the faithful to go out and make disciples of all the nations. Inspired by this Great Commission, we at Saint Mary Cathedral are called to form disciples, guided by the Holy Spirit. Our Mission is to bring all people closer to Our Heavenly Father through:
Deep immersion with Scripture and Catholic teaching,
and an active faith lived in communion with others.
Through Our Mission, we aim to ignite hearts with God's love, illuminate minds with divine wisdom, and radiate the joy of the Gospel throughout the city of Austin and beyond.
What began as only a parish church eventually became the parish seat for the bishop of Austin almost a century later. As one of the most beautiful and impressive churches in the Diocese of Austin, the Cathedral is a place of rich history, community, and growth that has walked side by side with the ever-blooming city of Austin.
