The Sacrament of Confirmation
for Children in High School
Confirmation is one of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist).Confirmation is the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit that brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace.
A minimum of two (2) years of formal religious education in a parish or Catholic school program precedes preparation for the celebration of the sacrament of confirmation for children.
Teen Confirmation
Adolescents who were baptized as an infant or toddler receive Confirmation generally 14-16 years of age. The Bishop is the ordinary minister of Confirmation. A recent baptismal certificate is required so the reception of the sacrament can be duly recorded at their church of baptism.
Adult Confirmation
Our parish partners with the University Catholic Center for Adult Confirmations.
The UCC has a program specifically for those who were baptized Catholic and already received their first communion.
Message from the University Catholic Center:
The University Catholic Center offers formation for baptized Catholic adults who have recieved the Sacrament of the Eucharist (First Holy Communion) but lack the Sacrament of Confirmation. We also welcome members of St. Mary's Cathedral to attend these classes.
This is a faith journey — not just a class. We hope that you will allow us to be with you on your journey. Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be disciples of Jesus Christ in the world. We recieve a fuller outpouring of the Holy Spirit and are strenghtened to be witnesses of the Kingdom of God in our families and workplaces, among our neighbors and friends, and within our community of faith.
Our adult Confirmation process is a twelve week, in-person series, begining Monday, January 29, 2024, and meeting every Monday evening from 6:30-8pm. Click here to register. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred by Bishop Joe Vásquez on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10am Mass.
For more information on the Confirmation process, please contact Fr. Andrew Dinh.
