The main entrance of Saint Mary Cathedral is found on 10th Street, near Brazos. Stairs lead up to the grand arches framing the main entrance. A handicap accessible entrance may be found on the east side of the Cathedral, where a ramp leads into a side entrance.
At this prayer service, Austin-area Christians come together to join in Christ's prayer that all those who believe in Him may be one, so that the world may believe that the Father sent Him, and that the Father loves them as He loves Christ (John 17:20-23). This simple, ecumenical prayer service consists of contemplative singing with music from Taizé, Scripture readings, silent prayer and a short closing prayer.
The music we use originated inTaizé, an ecumenical community established in 1940. The community serves as a sign of reconciliation among divided Christians, in the hope that Christians may go forth as a leaven of reconciliation between people, of trust among nations and of peace on earth.
