Lumen Gentium Award:
We are proud to announce that Bishop Aymond as bestowed the Lumen Gentium Award on Cathedral Parishoner Brian Trinque.
The ceremony, held at the Frank Mayborn Convention Center in Temple, was a tremendous celebration of the contributions of so many lay people to the work of our church. Every parish in the Diocese was asked to select one lay individual, paid or volunteer, who “shines with the light of Christ” in his or her work. This work exemplifies the spirit of the Vatican document, “Lumen Gentium:” “The laity, however, are given this special vocation: to make the Church present and fruitful in those places and circumstances where it is only through them that she can become the salt of the earth.” MR Trinque, an economics professor at UT, was recognized as an “unsung heroe” for his mulltidude of volunteer activities at the Cathedral. as well as providing a good example to others, inviting others into Catholic stewardship and promoting the Gospel message in his everyday life.
