Dr. Jones-Ragona earned his Doctorate in Music at UT-Austin in 2006. He joined the Cathedral music staff in 1993 as the tenor section leader and became choir master in 1997. Dr. Jones-Ragona became the Cathedral's Director of Music in 2005.
That same year, along with Danny Johnson, he lead the first complete performance of Claudio Monteverdi's
Vespers of 1610 which won the Austin Critics' Table Award for Best Classical Concert. In 2002, Dr. Jones-Ragona founded the Celtic Christmas at the Cathedral concerts with Donnelle McKaskle. This concert has become one of the most popular holiday events in Central Texas.
Dr. Jones-Ragona frequently appears as a soloist in opera and oratorio performances and also serves as the Musical Director and Principal Conductor for Gilbert and Sullivan Austin.
