Rosy Jalifi has been a Cathedral parishioner for 15 years. During this time she has served in various ministries and worked on several projects. Rosy is a “cradle Catholic” and has been blessed with a Catholic education. This formation has instilled in her the value and commitment of being of service to the Church in whatever capacity is needed. She currently serves as president of the Parish Council and is also a lector and extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. She also heads up the Flower Guild and the annual Christmas and Easter “decoration efforts.”
One of her most memorable service opportunities was supporting the rector during the pilgrimages to the Cathedral during the Jubilee Year of 2000. The Cathedral was designated as a pilgrimage site and pilgrims would receive a plenary indulgence after meeting the usual requirements. Every Saturday morning that year, Rosy would assist in hosting the numerous pilgrim groups from the various parishes of Central Texas. For many of the pilgrims, this occasion was their first visit to the Cathedral and they left inspired after being connected to their Catholic heritage in Central Texas.
Professionally, Rosy is a City of Austin employee. During her 32 years with the City, she has worked in a variety of key management positions. Rosy has worked in Human Resources, City Manager’s Office and the Department of Small and Minority Business Resources.
