Who are we? Saint Mary Cathedral consists of a wide range of different people, from all ages and different backgrounds. Whomever you are, you are assured a very warm welcome at the Cathedral.
When to arrive: If you plan on attending a Mass and it's your first visit, then it's recommended to arrive 15 minutes early before Mass. For the Easter and Christmas Masses, you should plan to arrive 45 minutes to an hour, due to the amount of people that attend.
Parking:**Please note recent changes to parking**
After 5pm M-F and all day Sat and Sun: Free parking is available in Capital Parking Tower Garage located off of San Jacinto. You can get your parking ticket validated in the Donohue Center Gym. Street/metered parking is free Saturday before 11am and all day Sunday, on major holidays, and also free on Mon and Tues evenings after 6pm.
M-F before 5pm We are no longer able to have free parking in the garage due to changes in the garage management's policies (which we do not control). You can still use the garage but will have to pay. Street/metered parking will usually be the most economical option. Street parking is free before 8am Mon-Fri and on certain major holidays. The Capitol Visitor's garage is also an economical option. It is located 2 blocks away at 1201 San Jacinto and is free for the first 2 hours and only $1/hr after that.
What to wear: Please dress in a way that will allow you and others around you to focus on God without the danger of being distracted by your attire. Modesty is a must, simplicity is better, cleanliness is helpful and comfort is holy.
Does the Cathedral just meet on Sundays? Of course not! God is with us all week long and we aim to lead lives pleasing to Him. To further encourage us outside of the Mass, we have several ministry opportunities. Getting involved in a ministry is a great way to get to know others in the parish and to be real with each other about everyday living.
For those with disabilities: We aim to be an all-inclusive parish. If you wish to discuss specific needs, please contact the church office at (512) 476-6182. Our premises are accessible for those with disabilities. We have reserved parking spaces in the public access alley behind the Cathedral and a ramp near the east entrance. Please see the parking map for a view of these accessibility features. Restrooms are accessible. We offer assisted listening devices for those who are hearing impaired, for assistance ask an usher.
